A member asked:

Can tubes in ears cause a rupture? my 2 year old granddaughter ruptured her ear and she has tubes in them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basics: Ear tubes provide an open window between the canal & middle ear space. They can drain middle ear fluid & debris when it is infected and or the Eustachian tube that normally drains such material to the throat is blocked. If the tube is blocked, the site may be a weak area where the drum would rupture. An exam would reveal the process.
