A member asked:

What is the normal range of motion for bending and straightening the knee? mine is -14 for straightening and for bending it is 94. i know this is not good?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Surgery prior ?: Normal range is 180 extension (0) and 120 degrees flexion,in non surgical knee. Post surgery goal still remains full extension but at least 95 degree flexion to allow sitting . If you want to improve your ranges, begin slow stretching daily (some heat the joint first for 10 minutes with moist hot towels, or start in pool exercises for range of motion. Ask your doc for PT referral if needed.
