I have hereditary hemochromatosis. the nurse draws my iron labs, right after she removes a pint of blood. shouldnt they be drawn before blood removal? wouldnt my labs be lower after a pint is removed? im worried im not getting accurate labs?

Great question!: Therapeutic Phlebotomy. I reviewed the following: http://www.irondisorders.org/Websites/idi/files/Content/854256/Physician%20Chart%20phlebotomy%20detail2011.pdf * It indicated that patients should normally have a pretreatment hemoglobin of 12.5 g/dl. I have only once had a patient with this disorder- so I would ask your doctor the next time you see him/her.
