Hi doctors! how is fecal impaction treated? can you "pass gas" if you have fecal impaction? if you cannot make a bm at all, could it be anything worse/more severe than fecal impaction, something like...colon/rectal cancer or something like that?

Dig it out: There are a variety of methods used for poor evacuation. Starting with oral meds & enemas it moves on to actual manual (by hand) disimpaction. This is one of a hospital orderlies or nurses least favorable procedures. Fecal impaction is not that uncommon & certainly much more common than the scary issues you mentioned. Find a GI doc & get on a gut rehab plan.It is fixable with effort.
