My daughter had been in excruciating pain for 2 days. The urgent care dr said it was a bad sinus infection. The pain is in her head and ears. She is taking percoset for the pain, nasal spray with a steroid and antibiotcs. The persoset does not take any of

Sinus ear & ear pain: Could be something serious. Have a medical person look in your ear.

What is Cause: Are these pains activity related? Overuse injuries, improper shoe wear, sudden increase training, running on hard surfaces, etc could cause leg pain. It could something as simple as being dehydrated. The wrong footwear could affect the alignment of your foot or ankle and should be evaluated. Check magnesium and consider bone scan for stress fracture. Compartment testing for recurrent symptoms.

Insole: When pain is bilateral cause is usually systemic. Inner ankle pain both side shows you do not have proper arch support - you might have a medium or high arch - try walk-fit insole available at target and other stores will help the pain. To test your foot arch very gently, push the ball of the foot and heel together. The resulting curvature in your arch is its natural shape - high, medium, low.

Stop Omeprazole: Stop Omeprazole and recheck your blood test. Continue Benicar and toprol (metoprolol).

Hypertension at 18?: Your main problem is not with your calcium and potassium, it is your having hypertension (h) at 18. How long ago did you start your bpmeds? Did the physician consider a secondary cause for your h, such as a renal artery stenosis or conn's syndrome? I suggest you go to your physician (p) and ask the p to consider other causes for your h. It one is found, and treated, you may not need hbp meds.

See a doctor: Five weeks is quite a long time for symptoms of a transient virus. It would be in your daughter's best interest to get an appointment with her doctor asap for a detailed medical work up.

Mgt/workup: Some causes may be related to infections such as hepatitis or mono. It is important to have imaging and complete blood work, including a CBC, diff, plts and liver panel. Your GI specialist will be able to obtain more information.

You : You could be pregnant. Some antibiotics can make some types of birth control pills less effective. Additionally you indicated that you had unprotected sex. Common signs of pregnancy can include: tenderness of breasts to include nipples; breast enlargement; lack of a period, feeling tired; nausea; mild cramping; having to urinate more often, food cravings and sometimes insomnia. You did not mention if your period is late? If your period is late; take a pregnancy test. Good luck.

Without : Without examining you, it is hard to say for sure what you have. You could be having an initial infection of herpes causing your symptoms, or you may have another viral illness such as coxsackie virus (hand, foot and mouth illness often seen in little kids) or herpangina (sore throat due to ulcers). To know for certain, you should give your doctor a call and have them take a look. If your fever persists above 104f, fever remains for more than 5 days, if your vomiting worsens, if you think you are dehydrated, or if you feel sicker after 3-4 days instead of better you should see your doctor. Get tested-: Not only herpes needs to be considered here. Depending on the precautions you take when being intimate with someone, acute HIV infection is a consideration. This can be evaluated by doing some blood work. Finally, flu season is in full swing so, based on the many possibilities, get yourself checked out!

Viral?: If it is a primary herpetic stomatitis or flu, which can be very uncomfortable, Amoxicillin will be of no use (unless to treat a secondary bacterial infection). If viral, treat symptoms, it will abate, but stay hydrated! if it is indeed bacterial (bacterial infections tend to have higher fevers) then perhaps a culture and sensitivity test for a specific antibiotic would be wise.
