Common problem: Stool retention is a common problem of childhood that may become evident as soon as a child develops some control of the emptying process.Over time the large intestines balloon & weaken leading to ineffective emptying. These kids can require a year of daily meds/scheduled emptying & emotional support to fix. Find a experienced pedi or pedi GI doc for a rehab plan.
