Insect bite: It depends on what stung you-some wasps carry bacteria that could show signs of cellulitis more quickly-like Strep. Most often after a sting the area will become red, swollen and painful which is a local toxic reaction to the insect venom. Usually within 72 hours the symptoms are starting to subside. Ice to the area often helps. If the redness, pain increase though, cellulitis could be starting.

Cellulitis: You could be having an allergic reaction. However, some types of bacteria can cause very rapid development of cellulitis (even within 24 hours).
