A member asked:

What all things need to be disinfected when you are moving to a house previously occupied by someone with c.diff infection apart from the toilet, of course? do walls need to be disinfected if touched with infected hands? if so, how?

C.difficile: C. difficile bacterial spores from feces can be spread by unwashed hands to food, surfaces & objects & live for weeks to months. Recommend cleaning all surfaces with a disinfectant that contains chlorine bleach. Not all cleaning products are effective in killing spores. Clean everything: In short, everything should be disinfected. Just as you would clean the floor, you can clean the walls and everything. Infectious agents can be airborne and end up in remote distances. This is one area in which to be overly compulsive. You will sleep better and lessen risk of infection/re-infection.
