BCP ?'s: If you took the bcp's daily, and within the hour of the previous day's active pill, the oral bcp's should be protective. If pregnancy is possible, starting on a light flow may not be protective, so to be certain, obtain a serum HCG test . If negative, and the current bleeding is about normal for your past periods, just begin the new pack now and take them punctually, as per the package insert.
