Bakers cyst: Popliteal cyst , or as you described ganglion cyst is the result of internal derangement of knee joint, you may have unrecognized associated damage to the internal ligaments, or meniscus injury, speak to your doctor, you may need arthroscopic examination of knee joint.

Bakery's cyst: You are describing a bakers cyst which is similar to a ganglion, but not of the wrist. All ganglion have a certain rate of recurrence. If it is bothersome go back to your original surgeon and discuss options.
