Seconds to never: Nowadays most prescriptions are electronically sent to pharmacies. Unfortunately, many times due to lack or proper interfacing they are not seen by pharmacists. Many times also prescriptions are sent to wrong pharmacy or are never sent in either because physician has changed their mind or simply forgot as being too busy.
