Reaction: A rash localized to a single area is usually due to a contact with an agent to which the kid is allergic. On the side of the face it could be something he laid down on or something that touched his face another way. Most will self resolve as long as the kid is not re-exposed. An exam would be needed to distinguish this from an infectious process.
