A member asked:

I'm having really hard pain in the middle under the sternum, it happened once before about a month ago, its really bad pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Retrosternal pain: More description of symptoms is needed in order to make a differential diagnosis. How long did the pain last? Any associated sweats, arm or jaw pain, shortness of breath, nausea, urge to belch, residual weakness after pain subsided? Possibilities include esophageal spasm, coronary artery disease, pinched intercostal nerve. If chest pain still present, proceed to the hospital emergency room asap.
