What constitutes major surgery vs minor surgery? is the length of the surgery a consideration, i.e. a 15-minute surgery vs a 60-minute surgery?

Major vs Minor...: I once asked a surgeon this very question and his answer was a major surgery is any surgery happening to you and a minor one is any surgery happening to someone else. His point was that any procedure, no matter how minor it may seem, carries risks including the anesthesia risks, infection risks, etc. The real question becomes what are the risks involved for you from surgery and anesthesia?
