Medical genetacist: I would encourage you both to explore your family trees & basic pregnancy risks by consulting a medical genetacist. These are often found at teaching or children's hospitals as part of their specialty staff. The disorder is listed as most often a recessive disorder, meaning both parents must carry but not show the defect, but rare dominant forms exist. A genetacist could sort out your case.
