Development of diseases may be genetic predisposition however there are multifactors beyond being formula fed to have lifestyle diseases or diabetes It is possible that the choice of the mother to bottle feed solely may determine other factors that could lead to such predispositions. Breastfed children probably feel the connection and bonding apart from the transferred immunity through breast milk

There is early data suggesting at least 6 months of breast feeding is associated with less risk of childhood onset diabetes, not adult onset or lifestyle associated DM. I know of no data ever suggesting formula feeding "causes" or otherwise sets up a pathway to adult onset diabetes.
