A member asked:

Hi! i had a splinter in my thumb--i went to the local urgent care, and thank god it was removed with no problems whatsoever. my question is what may have happened if i had not gone to urgent care? wouldthe problem have resolved on its own or infected

Splinter: It might have gone either way. Sometimes, the body removes foriegn bodies on it's own - other times they may remain embedded and it could become a portal for infection. Take care.
