Be patient: Your child doesn't want to eat because it hurts. What you have to do is make sure your 9 year old remains hydrated. Try a pair of cold teething rings, one in the refrigerator cooling down as the other is in use. There are topicals that can be used as well as pediatric analgesics. Check with your Pediatrician , and make sure your child sees a Pedodontist at eruption of his/her 1st baby tooth.
