A member asked:

Is it better to go to a same gender doctor for problems specific to the genitals because the same gender doctor has those same body parts themselves and may be more understanding of issues involving them or does it not matter at all?

Personal preference: This is a matter of personal preference. A Doctor trained in problems of the genitals (usually a urologist) can be judged competent in their field based on Certifications, Length of Practice, Hospital Affiliations, Lack of Complaints or Malpractice suits, and Bedside Manner. Gender plays no role in any of these factors.
