Depends: Most forms of tonsillitis are triggered by viral or bacterial infection. Strep A would be contagious for up to 24 hrs after you start antibiotic treatment. Viral infections are generally contagious until at least the fever is gone, but some longer. Whether or not or when your employer would let you return to work is up to them.
