A member asked:

My son, 33, who works out with weights, armpit hurts only with movement.. never hurts unless he moves his arm in a certain position..no lumps or any other symptoms, could this be a strain, im very concerned! ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Armpit pain: In a person who lifts weights, this could be an overuse injury such as tendonitis. This could be a muscle strain, or rotator cuff injury. Usually rest (no weights), ice packs, and anti inflammatory over the counter medications such as ibuprofen helps with these types of injuries. If it doesn't improve recommend he sees the doctor who may recommend imaging, physical therapy, or other treatment.
