A member asked:

If someone has mono and exchanges saliva with someone that already had mono. can the person that already had mono give it to someone else if they share saliva?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Confusing wording: The active mono person would not pass it to someone to has had it from the common EB virus responsible for most cases. They would be immune. If the mono was from a different germ they might.Mono is considered contagious for at least 3 weeks in most, occasionally 3 months in some but is rarely transmitted after that point.
