Ankle swelling : Yes, one hit in your ankle can lead to swelling in the whole area, the fact that you can walk is good news, but you could get an X-Ray just to make sure your bone is ok. Ice can also help.

Ankle injury: It sounds like a bruise that will respond to ice pack and OTC meds like =Tylenol or ibuprofen. If it does become painful when walking, you will need an ankle X-ray.
