Abcess: It may be an abscess. Treatment is warm, wet compresses. Observe for drainage of puss. Clean surrounding skin with rubbing alcohol to kill any staph bacteria. Pat dry, cover with nonsticking gauze held in place with paper tape after applying antibacterial ointment daily. See MD if spreading redness, increased swelling,increased pain.
