Muscle strain: Sneezing or coughing can cause small muscle strains/injury in chest and back regions. Use an oral or spray decongestant to unblock your nose, and an antihistamine to prevent sneezing. Rest the area, use alternating hot and cold packs to relieve the pain and use an analgesic such as acetaminophen for pain relief. If the pain does not resolve in 3-5 days with rest and ice, see a Dr.

Ibuprofen: In addition to Dr. Kratzberg's good advice, you may want to try ibuprofen for the pain, if you have no medical reason not to take it. It often helps a lot with muscular pain.
