Carpal tunnel syn.: Carpal tunnel syndrome can be caused by swelling as well as overuse (holding your newborn baby). Initial treatment can be as simple as wearing a wrist splint. You should be evaluated by a hand surgeon to confirm and start treatment.

Hand numbness: Women can develop carpal tunnel during pregnancy or immediately following pregnancy. Consider a carpel tunnel splint at night to see if it helps your symptoms during the day. If the numbness is unremitting or getting worse with time i would seek medical attention.
