Hi dr my 17 month old woke up with her eyes abit swollen and reddish. what could be the reason? she does tend to rub her eyes on her sleep too.

Allergies: Does you child suffer from allergies? Dust, pollen and even domestic animals can cause allergic reactions causing eyes to be swollen and red, and nasal stuffiness. She may even be allergic to fabric softener or other additives in the sheets. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is safe to give toddlers for allergies. See you Dr if the swelling increases or affects her tongue/lips.
