Basics: Group B strep is a common inhabitant of the digestive tract. It is transiently present in as many as 1/3 of women's genital tract (vagina) and occasionally known to cause a UTI. It is thought to simply come from the anus due to it's close proximity. Vaginal sex after anal sex may trigger transfer. Men would rarely if ever be carriers in their penis.
