Often simple: At 4 yo if she tub bathes she sits in soapy water and does a mini-douche with that material every time she crosses her legs.Simple contact with that soap, or soap debris if not rinsed completely, can lead to nightime itching and result in such pain. Some girls need tub showers to avoid contact with soap or shampoo on their genitals.This simple change can stop many episodes.

Could Be UTI?: In a child, the typical symptoms of a UTI: Pain, urgency and Frequency are difficult for them to articulate. You should take her to see a Dr, as an untreated UTI could result in kidney infection, or other complications. The Dr can examine the child and do a urinalysis which can easily determine if she has a UTI. If the Urine dip is positive, the Dr can also give you a script for an antibiotic.
