A member asked:

If tea tree essential oil can cause gynecomastia in prepubertal males, is it possible that it can also stunt growth in pubertal males-by inhibiting growth spurts due to lower testosterone (tea tree is estrogenic)?dabbed undiluted to scalp 6 months

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unrelated myth: In four decades of pediatric practice I have never heard or read of any impact of this oil on anyone & don't accept the idea. To do so chemicals would need to enter the bloodstream in an amount that influences the body, which does not happen. As many as 1/2 of males will develop gynecomastia on one or both sides as a transient reflection of existing estrogen they make naturally.
