Herniated Disc: The answer is probably. Exercise is key for the conservative care of a symptomatic herniated disc. Care must be taken not to aggravate the disc. This means that where the disc is herniated is important. Many lifting activities involve weighted flexion of the back which is potentially injurious. Consult a physical therapist or your physician for advise on activities and exercise advancement.
