Normal Variation: Pigmented fungiform papillae of the tongue are a benign condition that is characterized by pigmentation involving the fungiform papillae. It is more common in medium/dark-skinned individuals, and most reported cases are adults between the second and third decades. There is no underlying medical condition associated with this finding.
