My 7-week old baby who is only breastfed has severe reflux, he spits up about 10 times in one hour from mild to heavy spit up. he has become very fussy and refuses to be held upright or against the chest. he has had frequent wet diapers.

GERD: GERD is a reflux of gasric fluids into the lower esophagus. This is typically caused by relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter. GERD is noted in 50% of infants. The peak of incidence is at 4 months. Typically this is a problem that will pass. 10 spits ups in and hour is alot. Fussiness may be the sign of an infection. I would let your provider know.
