A member asked:

Hi doctors! how is it safe to go out at all if the virus is still here? even more so with the reopenings that include more close contact? how is it safe to have reopenings at all until we can breathe without masks at all?

Fundamental question: Your question is fundamental to the response. The answer is multi-factorial and is under significant debate. Should we as a civilization commit to hiding out in our basements with masks forever, or do we get out and do the best we can. Personally, I believe in the latter.

COVID 19: We can still increase safety significantly even with reopening, if we take certain precautions. Wash hands (or use sanitizer) often for at least 20 seconds. Wash hands before touching eyes, nose or mouth. Use a cloth cover over mouth & nose when around others. Avoid sick people. Distance at least 6 feet from others. Clean/ disinfect frequently used surfaces.
