Low iron: I believe that intravenous iron should only be given if you are unable to tolerate or absorb an effective oral iron supplement. One with 65 mgs of elemental iron and vitamin C combined with a stool softener taken 2 or 3 times a day usually raises your iron level gradually, steadily and effectively. Your physician will guide you on follow-up testing to determine your response.

Iron: There is so much we don't know about you- are you anemic? Is there some medical reason that prevents you from taking iron orally. I agree with earlier responses. I have seldomly seen situations where people need intravenous iron supplementation. Oral iron: Have you tried oral iron supplement. Take oral iron supplement and multiple vitamins. Take iron pills with food to reduce stomach irritation. You need to see a doctor to ascertain the cause of low iron and the cause needs to be treated. Wish you good health!
