Regional issue: In the USA the rabies activity is monitored by regions/counties within the states. Local health departments are also the main contact source for vaccine and use. Most domestic animals/pets are not considered a risk unless feral but this information should be confirmed by calling your county health department. If rabid such an animal would likely be dead within a week or two.
