Toothpaste...: .... and municipal water supplies already have fluoride in the appropriate concentrations. Dental offices have only been closed for three months; mixing your own concoction is really inadvisable and not necessary. Brush with ADA seal of acceptance toothpaste and you'll get your topical fluoride application at your dentist's office.

DO NOT: Too much of anything can be harmful, including sodium fluoride. In therapeutic amounts your body processes fluoride successfully. Overdosing can be dangerous. If your water supply is fluoridated, and if you use the recommended pea-sized amount of fluoridated toothpaste twice daily, you would need a fluoride treatment only if you were having a decay problem.

Yes it can: Also, just for information, New Jersey is the only state that does not have fluoride in the water, so we do supplement children’s vitamins with fluoride until all permanent teeth are in.
