Corneal sunburn: This is the same thing as a sunburn to the skin only it is the highly innervated cornea which causes signficant pain. The best you can do is lubricate the eye with ordinary tear drops and wait for it to renew itself which usually takes 1/2 to 1 day. You can take tylenol (acetaminophen) to relieve some of the discomfort in the meantime.
