Is nitrofurantoin safe to take? ive been reading a lot of side effects online about kidney and liver problems if this is taken?

Basics: Nitrofurantoin was approved in 1989 for use as an antibiotic under the supervision of a physician. It has been prescribed millions of times & remains on the market due to it's proven safety in general use. Any individual patient may have a reaction to any antibiotic or side effects. Monitoring of such issues by the treating physician is always a standard of practice.
