I have varicose veins on my right leg. i'm doing a charity event in july, walking 100km in under 30 hours, will this cause any problems?

Yes you can: If you are physically trained to walk 30 km you can , wear elastic stockings , even better custom made stockings to the thigh level 30 mm hg pressure.

Well, : Walk ing is good for the venous circulation but what ur up too is not a simple thing. I would suggest why don't get them fixed, plenty time to july. If not, have with you a pair of surgical support stocking knee level and open toe and if needed put them on if pain or swelling sets in. Have rubber kitchen gloves and baby powder to help putting them on!

OK to do: As dr. Rao said, it is perfectly ok to do the walk with your varicose veins but you should plan to wear compression sleeves while you walk. They don't have to be high pressure or custom made but the support will help. As dr. Goren said though, if you veins are causing you to have any symptoms, why don't you see a vein specialist and talk about doing something about your varicosities.

Varicose vein: walking actually may be beneficial, but to protect her self I would recommend use of a support stocking during this long walk. I would also consider an evaluation of the source for the varicose vein and pursue treatment. As there is several months before the activity this may be of benefit to you
