My 1 year old swallowed a piece of a wooden toothpick. he chocked on it bit but was fine after. he also had food and drank a bottle after. he seems fine, he is playing and nothing seems to be wrong, but i am worried. do i need to take him to the er?

Probably okay: This is a relatively common event, where kids swallow lots of things. If they drink fluids well after you know it made it to the stomach where it will eventually pass through the gut & be expelled in their poop. Sometimes feeding them stewed okra will form a congeal binding the foreign object & lessen any irritation as it passes. If the kid develops colicky belly pain have him seen.
