Cellulitis: This sounds like cellulitis. It is a rapidly spreading skin infection which must be treated with antibiotics orally or IV. Any wound to the face (bite, scratch, cut, abrasion) may have bacteria introduced and if the infection starts to multiply it faster than the immune system can attack it, it begins to get red and swell. Have your friend see a Dr ASAP.
