Barrett's????: Barrett's esophagitis is a condition where chronic acid reflux from the stomach has irritated the esophagus to the point where there is an increased risk of cancer forming at the site of irritation. People with barrett's require regular (yearly or more frequent) monitoring with an egd (esophogastroduodenoscopy) by a gastroenterologist.

Barrett's.: If you mean Barrett's, this is a change in the esophagus in response to longstanding reflux. Mathis is a precancerous change which requires frequent surveillance EGDs to make sure cancer is not developing.
