Discordant couple: Just because you have it is not a guarantee that you will pass it on. There are many discordant couples. He has probably had cold sores (hsv type i) his whole life that has nothing to do with you. Your hsv type ii may be a "weak" type that has not infected him. This is absolutely possible (i'm surprised that you don't have type i also, only because it is so common). Be happy! this is good news!
