A member asked:

If your partner has an infection and you want to get tested as a male, do you see a urologist?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Almost never: Almost never do people need a specialist as the first doctor to evaluate a typical infection anywhere in the body. People just go to their primary care doctors, who can take care of almost all they typical human infections. For special situations, a patient gets referred to a specialist. Lab tests are usually done at the lab or at the doctor's clinic, depending on the type of test.
