A member asked:

My 65 year old father is under hypertensive medication. now bp 138/98.he has breathing difficulty with nasal obstruction. what to do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nasal obstetrician: IbAssume congestion of nasal passages membranes is causing his symptom. Avoid decongestant oral medications as they can aggravate hypertension. Gentle Irrigation of nasal passages with warm salt water could help. Using a nasal decongestant spray is less likely to aggravate his hypertension. If allergies are suspected, corticosteroid nasal spray and oral plain antihistamine medications are helpful
