A member asked:

Hi. i have recently started doing squats and for over a week now i cannot walk on my left knee. it is very tender on the inner side, stiff at the back of the knee and throbs. its swollen and bluish and feels wet. i am taking anti inflammatories?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cartilage injury?: Squats are stressful on the knee joints. Pain on the “inner side” could be caused by a tear in the medial meniscus (cartilage) or a strain of the medial collateral ligament. Rest, ice, anti inflammatory Ed, & quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises (can find on internet)can be very helpful (plus no squats- bike or swim perhaps) but may need Dr eval & physical therapy if persists
