Tests are accurate: Tests check for the bHCG hormone and are accurate. If there are hormones circulating in the blood, but there is no current or recent pregnancy, then one's doctors will keep looking until they find the source of the hormone. Sometimes the hormone is not bHCG exactly, but something structured similarly that cross-reacts with the test but that is uncommon. The tests are accurate in general.
