I had a mid line iv when i was in the hospital, it got infected, and also had clots, now i am on blood thinners, why does my arm still hurt, and how long will i be on blood thinners? i am out of the hospital for 2 months.

3: 3 months at a minimum. You will need follow up with your primary care physician as a thorough review of your medical situation will be needed in order to decide how long you should continue anticoagulation.an exam will be needed for the arm as well in order to understand if the pain is related to the clot only.
