Blood pressure: When a person stands up, the distance from their heart to the farthest part of their body increases and the body needs to adjust the pressure at which the blood flows to reach these farther distances. When you first stand up, you blood pressure is not high enough (thus the feeling of slow heart) so your heart responds by beating faster to cause blood to flow more forcefully.
